Love for Sale is a song by Cole Porter introduced by Kathryn Crawford in the musical The New Yorkers which opened on Broadway on December 8, 1930 and closed in May 1931 after 168 performances. The song is written from the viewpoint of a prostitute advertising love for sale. The song's chorus, like many in the Great American Songbook, is written in the A-A-B-A format. The reason i love this track is because it is the kind of track unlike Oceans Apart where you can't play in the beginning of a dance set. This track, which has a lotta drama to it thanks to the string arrangement is the kind of track that you slide in as a dj has a good mix workin and dancers can just take off to it. the nasty horns in the brass section give it a lot more body and funk IMHO than 'oceans. That it was a remix of a standard was par for the course at the time, but it's the kind of track that you wanna hear if you're already dancin, or if yo read more.
